Hello,
Can anybody tell me what was the most powerful engine used in Taunus 71-83 (by factory)
Thank you, Econ
V6 2,3 114 horsepower.
germany 2.3 v6 114PS
3.0 essex v6 in south afrika (other countys ??? )
4.1l in-line-six in Australia, 140 HP or something else
OK, can I find somekind of data/specification sheets for over 114 hp version. I would need it for legaly install Duratec 25 V6 engine to my Taunus Coupe GT -71. In Finland we can only increase engine power 20% more than most powerfull engine of car model. So 114 is not enought for Duratec.
must it be a factory-version wich the exception depends on? also Ford gave a exception to increase power of the Ford Taunus 76 up to 180HP by using the vented Brake-disks of the Ford Capris 2.8. I this is a another opinion to you, just send me an email so I can send you a copy of the official documents. I know you want to use a 71, but it´s nearly the same car as the 76, as you know.
Also some more informations would be interesting for us, affect the Duratec-conversion. :D

Documents for -76 would be great. With those I could even try to complete the vehicle inspection. I have allready fitted the engine with turbo, but inspectors chanced they practice now. Before they accepted power measurement report of engine power, but they dont accept anymore power measurements below engine stock power. If you are interested of Duratec conversion, I could post some pictures.

i´ll scan it and send it this evening!
Yep, we cant do those anymore. In 1990`s came the law wich orders next:
max power: 20% more than car models most powerful engine has
max displament: 25% more than car models largest engine
max engine mass: 20% more than heaviest engine
so the duratec would be ok, but max power 1,2*114 PS = 136,8 HP < 170 HP (Duratec).
And in this case dyno chart less than 170 HP is not allowed.
OK SE, thank you very much! :)

1.8 duratec not looking good :(
2.4EFI may be? + turbo kit after tech. control :)
2.4 would be fine with 2.9 cosworth cylinder heads, but I am allmost done with the duratec.

I prefer 6 cylinder setup for GT Taunus, but If I forced to go for four cylinder I probably choose Volvo 16 valve 2.3 engine with turbo. I have had cologne 2,0 2,3 2,8 and 2,9 engines before, but I don like them 12 valve desing so much anymore.

Yes, very hurt by doing this work, stuck on the documents...
May be enough docs from the Ford dealer that the Taunus went 2.8L 150hp motors, or that Duratec motor of 130hp? ;)
what kind of transmission you´re using?
I have now 5 speed type-9 gearbox from scorpio, but in future I propably get tremec tko 500 or 600. Here are the housing for type 9 now installed:
