Ford Taunus 2.0 V6 Vergaser

  • HI I am a new user from Italy.

I bought a Ford Taunus 2.0 V6 GT model from 1972 on ebay Belgium.

In italy it was imported just the 1.3 ,1.6 and 2.0 4 cylinder all them. Now i wish tuning a bit my engine but none in Italy have experience about that.I wish changing the carb and the best seems to be the 38 DGAS from Weber.

Anyone have experience about that? How have I to set it?I mean which jets have I to install on it to fit my engine?

Which carb would be better if not the 38 DGAS?

    Thanks in advance

  • welcome!

the 2.0 V6 is not a good starting-basis for tuning. maybe, you can increase the power not very much more than 20%, and for that you need firstly another cam, another headers and a little bit on work on the cylinderheads. only by changing the carb there would not be more power. sorry!

the simpliest and cheapest way is to swap the engine to a 2.3, 2.6 oder 2.8. All the engines are the same and you can swap than by plug-and-play.

but i don´t know what the government in italy allow in that fact of changing engines / more Power? Although I don´t know how hard it is to find a bigger v6 in Italy? The V6 of Granada and Capri are the same than those in the Taunus!

  • Buona sera!

installing a Weber 38DGAS on your 2,0V6 will mostly just increase fuel flow.

I recently swapped my 2,0V6 - 4Speed kombination with a 2,0OHC - 5Speed. This gave me, at least, 9 horses and much more "power from the bottom".

Pictures! we love pictures in this forum. :D

  • Hi thanks all for your prompt answer.I know the bet way would chaning the whole engine but in Italy is very difficult (impossible I think) to get a V6.
Our laws too are very strickly about this tuning. We dont have TUV as you unfortunately but if we buy in EU a car already tuned we can have italian license plate.
I know it makes no sense but how can I say?We are italians and I said all....
I will try do do my best to put pics but It is very hard for me using your blog I just speak italian and english.
I am learning german on ebay looking for spare parts!!
