Ford engine

  • Hallo! I want to know is it possible to replace engine on my Ford Taunus coupe 1973. It has 1,3 Liter engine. I can get a 2.9 V6 from Ford Scorpio 1984 with injector. It is possible to replace my 1.3 with 2.9 from Scorpio???? Plesae HELP!!! Danke.

  • Hi Harry,

    yes, it's possible.
But I`m not quite shure if you mean a Scorpio or a Granada. Cause the first Scorpio was built in 1985. But there was no 2.9i in the Granada - so I`m almost sure that yoou `ve got a Scorpio with a building year from 1985.

Where do you come from? Especially in England the Scorpio was named Granada MKIII I think?!
If possibel please send some pictures! I would load'em up for you (Coupè + Gine :)) )

If you really want to change to the 2,9i we all could help you with advice. Technical and mental if something sucks:D :D

All I can say at the end is that its a lot of work but its far away from impossibility.

    Greetings from Austria

  • Hi again!!! Yes yes the engine is from 1985 Scorpio!! Not Granada. I was wondering about using also a power braking from the Scorpio. How you guys put in your Taunus the power brakes????? Because braking with no powerbrake suuuuucks!! I am from Latvia. I put in some pictures of my car in couple of days. Thanks for your advice and support. Danke!!!

  • Hey Harry,

    i thought so!

Concerning the break! I think the 1,3ltr Taunus is the only one which had no power break included. Installing the break from a Scorpio would be possible but relatively difficult.
The best would be just using an original one from the Taunus. Every modle with an engine bigger than the 1,3 had one and they're not really rare.

You could also use break boosters from e.g. a Granada or Capri. What u also have tto consider is that if you use a break booster in your Taunus you've to change the break-pipes which are connected to the mainbrakzylinder.

Enshuldigung fur meine shlechte Deutche shprache.

  • Hi, Harry,

no problem! And in case you really do the change, the guys will certainly help you.

And don't worry about the whole discussion, they just get mad about the "cute" english words for some technical devices .... :O :O :O

If you like, please send some pictures of your Taunus and you to me so I can add it to our Gallery!

    Best regards, take care,
    Bonnie & GXL

Just tell me what you want and then sign that line
And I?ll have it brought down to you in an hours time.?

I?m gonna get me a car and I?ll be headin? on down the road
And I won?t have to worry about that broken down ragged Ford.
